Sensory Arts & Science Announces Formation of Macular Science, LLC
King of Prussia, PA -- May 15, 2007 -- Sensory Arts & Science, an innovator in biomedical devices and technology today
announced the formation of Macular Science, LLC and the transfer of certain proprietary assets to the newly formed company. Sensory Arts'
MacViewer technology and intellectual property, and all related materials and product designs have been conveyed to the new company in
preparation for entering the commercial stage of development for the patented technology.
Dave Davis, founder and Managing Partner of Sensory Arts commented, "The step of forming Macular Science, LLC and moving the related assets and technology to
the new entity is a milestone in our development of the technology and preparation for entering the commercialization phase of this product. This is consistent with our business
model of developing a promising technology and then creating a new entity to bring the product to market or to secure a strategic licensee for the product. The positive
results from our current multi-center clinical trial are now enabling us to begin preparing for the next stage of development. Given our
current progress, and of course pending regulatory approval, I anticipate being able to introduce the product to the healthcare provider segment of the market by the second
half of 2008 and potentially to consumer markets in 2009."
The MacViewer is a patented method and device that quickly and effectively identifies the presence of Age-related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) by enabling the patient to observe it first hand. The device facilitates a persistence of vision effect, so that the patient is able to visualize artifacts in the macular region.
The technology is the subject of a multi-center clinical trial that has demonstrated a high degree of sensitivity in detecting ARMD.
Macular Science, LLC will shortly begin discussions with potential licensees in the eyecare industry who may wish to bring this important new technology to
market for identifying the presence of early stage ARMD. The MacViewer is an ideal complement to some of the new and emerging
therapeutic regimens for ARMD, and provides an easy and rapid way to both screen for Macular Degeneration, and also monitor the progress of a therapeutic regimen.
